November 12, 2024, Austin, TX—Embracing Equity, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, proudly announces a significant leadership transition. Rashi Jawade, currently serving as Chief Strategy Officer, will be promoted to Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2025. Daisy Han, the visionary Founder and CEO of Embracing Equity, will step into the role of CEO Emeritus and Board Member.

Founded by Daisy Han in 2017, Embracing Equity has grown into a leading organization, impacting over 10,000 participants and more than 660,000 children globally to cultivate equitable mindsets, relationships, policies, and procedures that ensure everyone is nurtured and every person feels valued and included. Under Han’s leadership, Embracing Equity has achieved remarkable milestones, despite a turbulent social and political landscape.

"Leading Embracing Equity has been one of the greatest joys and honors of my life," said Daisy Han. "The organization has evolved beyond my wildest dreams, and it’s time for new leadership to take it to the next level. I am thrilled to see Rashi step into the role of CEO. Her strategic vision, integrity, and charismatic leadership will propel Embracing Equity to new heights."

Formerly the Chief Strategy Officer, Rashi Jawade, who has been with Embracing Equity for five years, has played a crucial role in shaping the organization’s strategic direction and operational excellence. As the new CEO, Jawade is poised to continue and expand upon the impactful work that has defined Embracing Equity’s mission.

"I am deeply honored to take on the role of CEO at Embracing Equity," said Rashi Jawade. "Daisy’s legacy is a testament to the power of visionary leadership and the dedication to persevere with a community-centered approach. I look forward to building on that strong foundation and driving our mission forward with innovation, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to embracing equity at every step."

The transition comes at a pivotal time for Embracing Equity as the organization continues to grow and expand its impact. In her new role as CEO Emeritus and Board Member, Han will continue to provide strategic guidance and support while also pursuing new projects and personal endeavors. This change marks not just a new chapter for Han, but a bold new era for Embracing Equity, where its commitment to driving transformative change remains stronger than ever.

Prior to joining Embracing Equity, Rashi was the VP of Strategy for the Branch Alliance for Educator Diversity, where she worked with minority-serving higher education institutions (such as HBCUs, tribal colleges, etc.) to diversify the teaching workforce. She also previously worked for Deans for Impact as their director of special projects and Baltimore City Public Schools as the special assistant to the CEO.

A Personal Note From Our Founder

2024 has been one of our most dynamic years as we took a big step toward sustainability, despite setbacks with fundraising, despite this Presidential election. We’re fortifying our roots as an anti-racist, DEI education movement that will persist and heal — even when we are scared. We are with you in feeling uncertain and frankly scared, for the future of our country. But we know this much to be true: Embracing Equity will continue to be on the front lines of DEI and will now be a critical resource in filling the government gaps and, in the worst-case scenario, navigating government persecution for implementing DEI efforts. We are more committed than ever to embrace equity, to build inclusive communities, and to make space for everyone at the table.
